Will Israel be the First Country to Put an End to Animal Torture for Fur Fashions?
The Israeli Knessett is considering a Bill to prohibit the production and trade in fur. No other country has such a law. The Knessett is expected to vote on this private bill offered by Knessett Member Nitzan Horovits on Sept. 2, 2010:

MA Set to Allow Return of Cruel Traps
In 1996 Massachusetts voters approved as a ballot initiative the Wildlife Protection Act, ALM GL ch. 131, § 80A. The vote was overwhelming in favor of the new law. According to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, a 2007 survey confirmed 79% of Massachusetts residents approved of the law.
Call on CA Gov to Close Fur Labeling Loophole!
A law requiring manufacturers and retailers of new clothing to warn of fur content, has passed the California legislature and has been sent to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for signature.
USDA and New York Set to Eradicate Canada Geese
The U.S. Department of Agriculture working with the New York Dept. of Environmental Conservation and New York City Dept. of Parks and Recreation, plans to round up and kill by gassing 170,000 Canada geese found on city property within 5 miles of NYC airports.
Indeed, 400 Canada geese have already been rounded up from Prospect Park in NYC and gassed.
Wolves Back on the Endangered Species List
Update Aug. 5, 2010: In an exhaustive opinion, U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy struck down the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) 2009 Rule that delisted or removed northern Rocky Mountain gray wolves from the endangered species list in all geographic areas except Wyoming.

FWC Votes to Ban Live Dog Bait Training
Update June 28, 2010: Saying it's not a fair chase, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has voted unanimously to prohibit the practice of training hunting dogs by placing them in enclosures with foxes and coyotes.
The practice called live bait dog training has been under scrutiny since investigations revealed the current permitting process simply hasn't worked to stop the brutality to foxes and coyotes.
Proposal to Lift Moratorium on Commercial Whaling Fails!
The International Whaling Commission (IWC), made up of 88 member nations, held its annual meeting in June in Morocco and was expected to decide whether to suspend for at least 10 years the 24 year old moratorium on commercial whaling originally championed by Pres. Ronald Reagan.
