WA State Anti-Tethering Bill Set for House Vote

Update January 31, 2012: Following a hearing last week, the Judiciary Committee has now voted to approve the substitute version of H.B. 1755. For more on the hearing and the bill as amended since last year, read Animal Law Coalition's reports below.
DE Bill Would Restrict Tethering of Dogs at Night
Delaware Senate Bill 156, a substitute measure, that would restrict tethering of dogs in the state, is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Forsyth County Issues Numerous Restrictions on Chaining

Update Aug. 31, 2011: Forsyth County, North Carolina County Commissioners have adopted new anti-tethering restrictions though there is no ban on unattended chaining as recommended in 2010 by the County Animal Control Advisory Board.
Palm Beach County's New Ban on Unattended Tethering
Palm Beach County, Florida's new anti-tethering ordinance went into effect July 1. That means no one can tether a dog to a stationary object or even a running line unless they are "with the animal and the animal is at all times visible" to that person.
There is an exception for dogs "actively" participating in a show, contest or other such event.
MA Bill Would Restrict Chaining
An effort to prohibit nighttime tethering of dogs seems to be a trend this year. (Read about bills in Delaware and Pennsylvania.)

PA Bill to Limit Nighttime Chaining
A bill pending in the Pennsylvania legislature would prohibit tethering of dogs between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Connecticut Legislature Strengthens Anti-Chaining Law

Update May 7, 2010: The Connecticut legislature has passed S.B. 274Â which improves on the state's current law making it illegal to chain a dog for an "unreasonable period of time." Ct. Stat. 22-350a
