KY Legislature Fast Tracking Bill to Create LCSB

The Kentucky legislature is fast tracking a bill, S.B. 105 (attached at the end of this article for downloading), another power grab by agri-business. S.B. 105, was introduced just a few weeks ago by KY state Sen. David Givens, and it has already passed the state Senate.

The Ohio legislature should take note: If legislators fail to pass humane standards for farm animals in the implementing legislation for Issue 2, voters may vote this November, 2010 to amend the state constitution and ban the Livestock Care Standards Board from allowing certain cruel factory farming practices.

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) has joined with several oil and gas and mining companies in filing a Petition for Review in the D.C. federal court under the Clean Air Act, 42 U.S.C. §7607 to challenge the Environmental Protection Agency's final rules issued this month regarding greenhouse gases. 74 Fed. Issue 2 Passes in Ohio

Update Nov. 4, 2009: The unofficial results show 63.65% of Ohio voters (1,958,646 people) voted yes for Issue 2, while 36.35% or 1,118,484 voters, voted no.

It's probably no surprise this power grab by large agri-business succeeded.
