What's Up with Ohio? Part II
by Michele Hollow, Pet News and Views
Pet News and Views if taking a look at animal legal issues in Ohio. This is the second in a series:Â
On Friday, I posted a story about the Coalition to Ban Dog Ohio Auctions. Today, I want to pick on, eh, focus on Ohio's factory farming. Many of you probably have heard about the recent cruelty investigation in an Ohio farm called Conklin Dairy. The videos are quite disturbing.
This is how a calf (cow and all farm animals) should live.
According to Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary, an organization that advocates for the humane treatment of farm animals and operates  sanctuaries in northern California and New York, video footage was obtained showing farm workers abusing cows and calves at Conklin Dairy.
"Farm Sanctuary reached out to law enforcement officers investigating the Conklin Dairy case, and we've engaged them to provide rescue and refuge for animals who were abused at Conklin Dairy should authorities seize any of the animals," says Gene.
.....Farm Sanctuary remains involved with the Conklin Dairy case ...in Ohio. "We'll also be reaching out to officials in Washington, D.C., and urging them to support policies to prevent animal cruelty and promote a healthier, plant-based food production system," explains Gene. "Among the federal legislation we are supporting is the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act (H.R. 4733) and the Healthy School Meals Act (H.R. 4870)."

Cruelty and abuse
I am so horrified with the whole process in the judicial system when veternarian's and farmer's try to justify the purpose of the abuse to those cows and calves on that farm. I thought for sure the justice would be to close that concentration camp where this farmer and his staff apparently need a punching bag for their own disturbing, anti-social actions. They need to be ashamed they were ever EVER born into this world. How the hell can anyone including a veternarian know that this was not hurtful, the witnesses can't reply and most take the abuse. If the cows had a chance to get away I guarantee they would get away and tell me in what lifetime is it ever acceptable to treat anything that breathes this way???? I would like to see Mr. Conklin and his worker bill greg joe treated the same, but the only difference is that these two useless humans would be able to speak and fully ask for the abuser to stop hurting them!
