Update June 3, 2011: New York Senate Bill 5172, known as the Ag-gag bill, passed the Senate Agriculture Committee on June 2, 2011 by a vote of 6 ayes, 2 ayes with reservations and 2 nos.

MN Bill to Subject Rescues to Consumer Protection Laws

A Minnesota bill, H.F. 1635, would include non-profit humane societies and animal rescue organizations in the definition of "pet dealer" under the state's consumer protection law. Minn. Stat. Sections 325F.79-.792

That means humane societies and rescues could be subject to civil or criminal penalties if they don't comply with a number of requirements for "pet dealers".
