Call on Medical Schools to End Use of Live Animals as Teaching Tools

Washington University in St. Louis has announced its medical school will no longer use live pigs in a student lab.

With the Medical College of New York's decision to end the use of live dogs in its first year physiology course (Click here for more on that), that leaves 10 medical schools that still use live animals though Case Western Reserve University recently announced an end to the use of almost all animals immediately and plans to phase out live pigs as a teaching tool by the next academic year. Click here for more on that.

Click on the name of the school below to contact officials and call or write and urge them to stop the use of live animals in teaching medical students. There is no reason for using live animals in this way, and, of course, it is cruel and inhumane.

dogs used in research-Ohio State University

How about getting Ohio State University to stop using dogs for heart research. There is no need for this type of research period. It is has no significant value for this reasearch. For more information contact the POET groups in Columbus, Ohio. They have been protesting this research for over 25 years.

Take notice other schools!

Washington University is a school with a national presence. Hopefully other schools will take notice and follow in their footsteps.
