Urge prosecution of Jack Ziniuk
Jack Ziniuk, a Riverside County, California, commercial dog breeder who sometimes poses as a rescuer, has been charged with 2 counts of animal cruelty.
Ziniuk called Riverside County authorities this past week and claimed dogs attacked his horse, leaving the poor animal near death.
In fact, Riverside County Sheriff's deputies who responded to the call, believed Ziniuk beat the horse repeatedly with a sledge hammer and then cut the animal's head off with a chainsaw.
For now, Ziniuk is being held in jail on $10,000 bail. One count against Ziniuk is for physical injury to the horse by using a deadly weapon, namely the sledgehammer. The other count is for neglect. Cal Pen. Code Sec. 597, et seq and Sec. 12022.
The District Attorney is expected to file more charges based on use of the chainsaw.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 4. If convicted on these counts, Ziniuk faces up to four years and eight months in prison.

It has been almost three months and the case is being continued! Jack should be prevented from EVER owning an animal.

This guy should not be allowed to live. As his sentence he needs to be thrown against a wall, have his neck and head stepped on, beat with a skateboard, and have HIS head cut off with a chainsaw. Before his head is cut off with a chainsaw, he needs to be totally coherent so that he can see it coming. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for him to do what he did !

I... went out to this guys property on Tuesday morning. I had received a call from a freind telling me what had happened to the horse... and that there were several animals needing homes. So we left with a bale of hay and several bags of dog food as there was none at the property. I couldn't believe my eyes. This is what I see on Animal Cops... only worse. So together with several of my friends... and their friends... and several other community memebers... saved over 100 animals. What the hell did Animal Control do? Nothing!!!! A dog rescuer???? Maybe. But he contributed to the dog population by breeding the pure breds and taking them to the local swap meet every other saturday selling them for hundreds of dollars. We, the community. banned together and did what the county shou;ld have done. We did their job!!!! I and my family took in 3 chihuahua, 5 peacocks, 1 ajck russel, and 1 guinea hen. They are all VACCINATED, SPAYED/NEUTURED... and are very happy. Shame Animal Control!!!

There seems to be lots of red flags on this story.
Animal control had been there how many times? And just wrote "tickets"
How could someone there allow this man to use a saw on this horse. That party is just as responsible for the death of this wonderful horse.
This cruelty seems to follow a pattern, "Breeders" that can no longer
care for those they are responsible for.
This "person" needs to be punished severely. There is probably no law with strong enough penalties for what he did.
Our Agencies must work on getting the word to these "idiots". If A/C has been to his
property before, they knew the situation and failed these animals big time.
Sounds like no matter how awful this man was, the A/C agency needs some serious
over hauling and changes made.
This man is seriously ill mentally and clearly these animals needed help before
this poor horse met such a horrendous death.
To me, killing a horse like that is the same as killing a human.
That horse did absolutely nothing to suffer. A/C should have talked to him, and if he could not care for the horse, then try to remove it. There are homes available, but it does take time.

What this guy did is unforgiveable. I am speechless about his actions. He is a dangerous person, period. I won't bother with being politically correct concerning his state of mind. He is NUTS and that is it! If any human is capable of doing with, he is capaable of doing it to other animals and possibly people.He must be prosecuted beyond the FULL EXTENT OF LAW never to own or be around animals again, ever. Put him away and throw away the key. He is a danergous being and if something isn't done now, those who forgive, will be sorry when it's too late.

If this act of depravity is swept under the rug...than we all are guilty. This person, needs to be tried, convicted and incarcerated, with inmates who have loved an animal. This is a sociopath, who needs to live out his days, enduring the pain he perpetrated to this poor, defenseless creature.

No words can express the horror this animal must have gone thru. What deranged psychopath this man must be, capable of this.. he needs to be prosecuted to the FULL EXTENT OF LAW, and never be allowed near animals again - what will he kill next ? I agree he's past deranged he needs to be Punished the same way he did that poor Horse--how can anyone even question the NEED for this man to be locked up--I'd throw the key away--and it list him as a commerical breeder????? What on earth has he done before he was caught at this--what would he do to a Child--he's SICK-
